I spent two weeks in Cornwall this summer where I discovered a different culture. The total immersion helped me to become more comfortable with English and I met a wonderful warm and generous family. This trip was an experience I shall never forget and which I would love to do again! We are delighted by our daughter Lorraine’s exchange with her new English friend Sophie. Lorraine came home enthusing about the warm welcome and her wonderful stay with the family. Her English has dramatically improved thanks to this total immersion and she was lucky enough to be invited to a country home in Scotland which she loved. Please accept our thanks again because we felt totally reassured and satisfied by this exchange as well as the professionalism and efficiency of your service. Alice and Sadb’s exchange went really well. Unfortunately we could only manage 10 days each way but it was very positive as Alice feels that her understanding of English has really progressed. In my opinion this was only possible in such a short period of time because she was totally immersed in a family. The warm welcome of Sadb’s family was a very important factor for the success of the exchange. Thank you Lingualinks for finding Alice…..such an outgoing, kind and happy girl. The attention given to the psychological profiles of the girls seemed very professional when I filled out the forms and this has been more than confirmed! We really enjoyed having Sadb who was always willing to participate in everything. She has left us with some wonderful memories such as the evening spent comparing animal noises! We are now experts at the English cockerel! Vincent is delighted with his stay with the B family. We all had lunch together- they really were very kind and welcoming. Vincent immediately went to play with the boys – football, ping pong, play station … while we chatted with the parents – a little English and a little French. It was really lovely and my husband and I were delighted to still be able to find a few words in English.
| I tend to worry when the children are away so letting Marine who is 14 go off to Glasgow was very difficult but I trusted Sarah at Lingualinks. We really appreciated the perfect casting! Thankyou Sarah. We hope that Sharon will come back soon and Marine will certainly return to Glasgow.Sharon's family was very welcoming - to be recommended to other parents! Just to let you know that the exchanges went off very well. Almeric had an excellent week in the south of France, and Vianney cheerfully survived two weeks in Colchester. He is a very charming young man, with an impressive knowledge of music. It is not easy to match teenage boys, and this one worked. They managed three weeks of each other, which was quite a feat, especially as life in Colchester is not quite as exotic as life in the Riviera. So thank you very much, and we will definitely try and arrange for Almeric to have another week in France later in the academic year. An exchange such as this is a very formative experience, I think Almericbenefited not just from the cultural and language aspects, but also because he had to take responsibility as host, as did Vianney when Almeric was in France. We were delighted with the exchange that you organised for us! Almeric and Vianney got on famously, it has to be said that their individual profiles were perfectly matched! Thanks to your detailed questionnaire about our teenagers and families, everyone was on the same wavelength. Well done for your service which really met the expectations of both the parents and their offspring! Sam and Harold got on so well and we loved having someone new in our family for two weeks. He joined in well with our family, including grandparents and cousins, and even tolerated the awful weather in Cornwall - only drawing the line at swimming in the grey rain. The two boys shared a sense of humour and Sam enjoyed his visit so much that he would definitely like to go again! We felt completely confident in the parents, enjoyed talking to them on the phone and even had the two grandmothers having a conversation at one point - it was quite emotional! Hereward and I would like to meet Thibaut and Catherine some time too! Sam feels so much more confident about trying to speak French, his accent has improved and he is keen to keep learning after GCSE as he really liked being abroad. I think the actual journeys themselves were good for them both too, being independent and sorting themselves out.
